OSHA Whitepaper Ties Safety with Corporate Sustainability

OSHA has released a whitepaper, “Sustainability in the Workplace: A New Approach for Protecting Worker Safety and Health,” highlighting the importance of including worker safety and health in the growing movement toward sustainability and corporate responsibility. According to the agency, responsible firms embrace the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit to achieve sustainability goals. The document encourages businesses to:
  • Create partnerships to support integrated OSH and sustainability activities;
  • Provide interdisciplinary training and education for workers, the OSH community and business professionals;
  • Measure how safety impacts performance;
  • Improve access to safety and health data.
