The piece slipped out of the employee’s hands and landed in side a swing stage basket below where another contractor was working inside the basket. Fortunately, the contractor was not struck, however, this incident had the potential to be very serious. Best Practices: When cutting end pieces of deck, ensure areas directly below are flagged off to control access to the work area. Always use a tethering device, such as a rope and clamp to secure end cut pieces so they do not fall to a lower level.
