AISC Releases New Certified Erector Program Requirements on Aug. 1 Applicants must comply with Standard for Structural Steel Erectors-2013 Starting August 1, all new applicants to the AISC Certification Program for Structural Steel Erectors must comply with the new Standard for Structural Steel Erectors-2013. This is a significant change from the Certified Steel Erector and Advanced Certified Steel Erector checklists that have been part of the program for many years. This includes elimination of certification levels and some prescriptive specifics of the two checklists. Fabricators who are familiar with AISC Structural Fabricator Programs will likely feel right at home. Many of the elements of AISC's building/steel structures, highway component, and bridge certification standards are duplicated with some modifications in the erector standard. If you are in the process of preparing your certification documentation to the Erector Checklists, get your application turned in by July 31 if you want to avoid having to revise your application documents. Current program participants should be receiving a gap analysis during their regularly scheduled audit starting Fall 2014. Required conversion is more than a year away.
